    This course is an introduction to the basic structures and approaches in the writing of poetry. Analysis and discussion of professional work will form and develop guidelines for effective criticism and revision of student writing.



  • CREW 320  Advanced Short Fiction Workshop


    Current Section(s): F10W01

    This is a workshop course in the writing and editing of short fiction. Students will write and submit two short stories (1,500-5,000 words each). They will also edit and discuss stories by other workshop members, complete a major exercise in stylistic editing, and read and discuss stories from the assigned text.

    A study in technical communications including planning and organization, outlining, summarizing, presenting data, handling references, and editing for students in business, technical, and other programs.

    An introduction to the tourism industry. Topics include: tourism terminology; issues and trends in British Columbia; tourism guest characteristics; the eight sectors of the BC tourism industry; key tourism organizations and their influence; impacts of tourism; and tourism related products.


  • CONV 103  Celebrating Community And Culture

    An exploration of how communities and cultures within those communities can be effectively included in special events. Topics include: assessing the community environment; communities as assets to special events; socio-cultural impacts of tourism and events; cross-cultural communication; and adding a cultural element to special events. Credit will only be granted for one of TOUR 153, RMGT 153 or CONV 103. (2:1:0)
